Background

The New South Wales Nurses and Midwives Association (NSWNMA) serves a diverse and dedicated workforce of nurses and midwives across the state. One of the key challenges faced by the NSWNMA is ensuring their members continually meet the growing demand for qualified trainers and assessors to support clinical requirements and facilitate the integration of new professionals into the workforce. Given that many nurses work on shift schedules and are spread across vast geographical areas, a flexible and adaptable learning solution was essential.


The Challenge

Nurses and midwives often face time constraints due to their demanding and irregular work schedules. Additionally, providing training across a state as large as New South Wales required a solution that offered ease of access and flexibility. The NSWNMA needed a training partner capable of providing consistent, accessible learning that catered to the unique schedules of its members, while maintaining high-quality, accredited training for future trainers and assessors.

The Results

Since partnering with TAE Academy in 2020, the NSWNMA has successfully enrolled 414 members into the TAE40116 qualification, delivering over 4,000 Units of Competency (UOCs) via a combination of self-paced learning and virtual classrooms. This flexible delivery model has allowed nurses and midwives across New South Wales to meet their training and certification requirements, improving their skills and furthering their careers, while balancing the demands of their clinical responsibilities.
