Background
Hazel Glen College, a progressive P–12 school located in Victoria, is committed to providing diverse learning pathways that prepare students for future success. As part of its ongoing investment in vocational education, the College identified a growing need to increase the number of qualified trainers and assessors within its teaching team to better meet the diverse needs and interests of students.
With limited-time funding support available through the Victorian Department of Education, the College partnered with TAE Academy to upskill a select group of teachers through a targeted, practical training solution.
The Challenge
Hazel Glen College needed a professional development opportunity that would:
- Enable teachers to gain vocational accreditation within a defined timeframe.
- Provide practical, hands-on training aligned with school-based delivery environments.
- Ensure compliance with both RTO and Departmental funding requirements.
Teachers were balancing full workloads, so the program had to be structured in a way that minimised disruption to teaching schedules while maintaining high-quality outcomes.
The Solution
TAE Academy designed and delivered a face-to-face program to support a small group of Hazel Glen College teachers in completing the TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set.
The program offered an engaging, collaborative learning experience that blended theory with practical application. Teachers participated in sessions that modelled real-world assessment processes and were supported through each stage of their qualification journey.
TAE Academy’s trainers worked closely with participants to ensure every teacher could complete the required practical assessments within the funding period, providing responsive support and clear guidance throughout the process.
The Results
By the end of the program, all participating teachers successfully achieved their TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set qualification.
This outcome has enabled Hazel Glen College to:
- Expand its internal capacity to deliver vocational programs.
- Strengthen its compliance position through qualified assessors on staff.
- Provide students with access to more diverse, career-focused learning options.
The collaboration has enhanced the school’s ability to offer high-quality VET delivery while supporting teachers in their professional growth.
